This is a copy of something I posted to a UK Forum and I was wondering if anyone on here have any ideas what the garage did.
Here's the tale of woe...
I have a problem and a 98 9000 2.3 lpt auto.
Bought this car in Feb just after it had an engine rebuild and love it. last has it serviced a month ago and it also had a brand new turbo last Wednesday (both by Saablight).
The car has been running very cold for a few weeks and on Thursday and Friday it still was so I called my local Saab garage to see of they could stick an 89 deg thermostat at lunchtime on Friday. No probs they said and it'll only be £50 so I took it in.
This is where the trouble starts - I was sitting in their waiting room and heard them revving the living daylights of a car in the workshop for ages. Thought to myself 'pity the poor sod who's car that is' and, guess what, it was MINE!
The service manager comes upstairs to 10 minutes later and says that when they were warming up the car it boiled over. There is now exhaust gas in the coolant and the head gasket may be blown but they'll fix it as it under warranty as was last replaced 9 months ago by a genuine Saab part. Got a call today to say that the head gasket is fine so the fault is somewhere else. I am now livid.
I have 2 questions:
1. What the hell have they done to my car?
2. Bearing in mind there was absolutely nothing wrong with it when I took it in (never lost any coolant in 9 months, coolant totally clear and car has never got close to overheating - 8 o'clock on the temp guage max) what are my rights regarding free repair?
Thanks all
A depressed and ANGRY cat.
