Remove the BPC and replace it with a "T" connector - you can probably find one for $2 at an autoparts store. Plumb the hoses going to R, C, and W together with the T. Unbolt the BPC and keep it safe, and put the connector in a plastic bag to keep it clean.
I've driven a CSE that had been modified that way. It was still quick, just not the very quick of a FPT. Will it keep him out of trouble? As others have noted, probably not. I got into plenty of trouble with a 60 hp VW. However, less HP is less HP, and you can figure that the tranny will last longer. And if anybody asks, say you're doing it to improve the gas mileage and reduce engine wear.
