These modules are serially defective, I have gone through three of them on my 1994 car before I decided to try to repair one (successfully). What to look for: does cruise work or not? Is it limiting boost to Base Boost (yes, this is one of the signals output by the cruise control module - you don't want massive boost/acceleration while on "autopilot")?
If it's not working, you can try resoldering ALL of the capacitors on the circuit board or see Jeff's writeup about making an adaptor and swapping in an older, more reliable module.
