It's always helpful to cite basic details of your car. Forgive me if you already know the following.
Years are not always compatible for software as much else: for instance, 1993 was a one-off, later cars had VSS incorporated and so forth. If your car is an LPT (low pressure turbo) you can add quite cheaply the bits to make it respond to a tuned ECU, or a standard CSE one for that matter, by delaying the opening of the wastegate to raise boost pressure as well as the expected tweaks to ignition, fuel map etc.
The typical stage 2 upgrade will require a cat-back exhaust at 3" diameter. Also, some tuned ECUs such as those from Abbott Racing may expect a modified wastegate. Most tuners would put a sticker on a box they'd modified, though if you bought used the previous owner might have removed than, maybe to avoid potential insurance issues.
If you bought from a tuner, especially one of the site sponsors, talk to them. If you bought from a well-known auction site...
