Electrical question

I accidentally left the lights on last night. In some cars there will be a bell or the lights will stay on or just the parking lights, but in my Saab, they just go off when I turn the key. So, I messed up. At least I didn't drain the battery.
This morning it was about 24 degrees as I drove my daughter to school. The first odd thing I noticed was that the rear defroster was not working. The orange light was on in my climate control, but the little horizontal melting lines did not form until I had been driving for almost 10 minutes. Normally they happen instantly.
The second thing I noticed was that the odd display under the speedometer and the "trip computer" display both were extremely dim. Occasionally they would get bright again, but they seemed to be fading in and out from near darkness and illegibility to very bright.
I don't know if these two things indicate an electrical problem or perhaps I did drain the battery somehow and this was the result.
Any ideas? Thanks!
