Where ever two pieces come together, they can leak or otherwise come apart. I'd check out the work carefully, and anything that might have been disturbed during the repair.
There aren't a lot of good tests for an AMM - most tests just check the burn-off feature. A typical symptom of a bad AMM is that the engine seems to ignore the gas pedal - lots of hesistation pulling away from a stop, then acceleration if you press the pedal well past half-way. But just the feeling that the gas pedaly isn't really connected.

You can try unplugging the AMM and seeing if there is a change. If there isn't a major change, then suspect the AMM. The best way to check is to put in a known good AMM. Just make sure it is the same part number; AMM's with different part numbers are usually NOT interchangable.
