General Exclaim UHP Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Mon, 13 Apr 2009 09:55:27 In Reply to: 16" tire recommendation???, skibumm100 [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 12 Apr 2009 08:44:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I also use dedicated snow tires and decided to try these as a high performance, reasonable treadwear tire - treadwear is rated as 380 AA.
Tire rack says: "The Exclaim UHP is General Tire's Ultra High Performance Summer tire that was developed for the drivers of sports cars, coupes and sedans. While meeting minimum tread design standards to be "M+S" branded, the Exclaim UHP is designed to provide high levels of traction, response and control in dry conditions, along with superior hydroplaning resistance in wet conditions. We do not suggest Exclaim UHP tires be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice."
I have had them on the car for only a couple of days, and it has been raining so I haven't pushed them at all, but they do appear to ride quite smoothly - I bought the V-rated tires, but they also are available as a Z/W rated if you plan to go faster than 149 mph and/or want a firmer ride. In case you are wondering about General Tire, they are now owned by Continental. Oh by the way, they cost about half of the much touted Michelin Pilot Exaltos and now come with a $50 rebate.
