Modding the ECU (hardware-wise) involves pulling the cover, lifting 1 lead on a chip, and installing a jumper between 2 pads. Wish I could post more than one picture....if anyone would like pictures, drop me an email and I can send them out.
You are correct though...the ECU does need to be reflashed, but as pointed out, either fork out nearly $300 for a T5 BPC, or pay someone to flash your ECU (ahem....I've got a contact for that), and buy a $60 BPC from here on out while having your ECU tweaked to stage whatever at the same time.
My T5 BPC "floats" around quite a bit, and should probably be replaced. My ECU (started life as a 1997 CS, LPT ECU) was modded for T5Suite and reflashed to Stg2.
Since the flash, I've installed a full 3" Group9 exhaust and K&N, so I'm begging for Stg3+, and will do the BPC mod at the same time.
