Let me start by clarifying WHAT I fixed , and how my 91 is constructed .
I adjust my 91 from the engine comp , by turning either of two plasti-nuts.
The headlight lens assy , has two bearing clamp sleeves snapped into it .
( see eEuroparts for pic of clamp ).
I did not fix these , I bought new ones , 3 bucks ea .
A threaded stud with a ball end presses into these .
The other end of this stud is splined , and has a plastic nut pressed on it for hand turning the adjustment .
This threaded stud threads into what I call a "headlight adjuster" ,
it is a black plastic 3 sided gadget , threaded in its center .
When it gets old , it get brittle and often is frozen to the threaded rod .
This gadget is supposed to be captured into the headlight mount frame ,
( see eEuroparts for pic of frame )
It is this piece that was busted for me
is this the black plastic 3 sided thing you need ?
That is what I fixed .
I couldn't find these listed anywhere , so I made my own which can't break
like the plastic OEM parts .
With the ball end of the threaded rod captured in the headlight assy bearing clamp sleeve , rotating the adjusting nut causes the "headlight adjuster" to slide up/down the threaded stud , pulling the headlight frame with it . If that headlight adjuster is broken , the threaded rod turns
without pulling the headlight frame ...no adjusting possible .
I built mine with a 1/4in rubber hose pressed into the headlight frame and cut flush . On the headlight side I pressed a metric T-Nut into the rubber hose on one end , and a washer on the other side , all captured between some small bolts/nuts . I drilled holes into the T-Nut flange to pass these bolts .
this thread on the 9000 forum has a related fix , see the 2nd post .
