When my 95'Aero OEM exhaust dissolved, I replaced it with a turbo back 3" system. I cherry picked the CAT back parts from JEGs.com, reprised below. The Magnaflow muffler is a straight thru. I bought the downpipe & racing CAT from Jak Stol in N.Carolina, http://www.jakstollperformance.com/
1 1 555-30777 UNIV FLEX COUPLER 3"X 8" 49.99 49.99
1 1 329-76-014302 SPLIT-FLOW RACE 3" I/O 99.99 99.99
1 1 642-12259 MGNFLW 5"X8"X18"-3"O/C 86.99 86.99
7 7 555-30723 3" U-CLAMP STAINLESS 9.99 69.93
2 2 555-30733 3" PREFORMED BAND CLAMP 13.99 27.98
Contents of Carton No.: 2
1 1 555-30672 UNIV HOTROD EXH KIT 3" 259.99 259.99
Installation was too challenging for me, since it was not a customized fit, although I made sure the mufflers would fit b-4 ordering. I brought it to my local Saab specialist, who fabricated different hangers and did some welding. The result is an incredible improvement in turbo boost, a little less spool up time, and improved mileage (around 30 city, 33 hwy). The car flies up hills! The labor was about $300. Check with Jak on the downpipe price - I think it was around $500. The exhaust sounds deep, subdued and throaty, nothing like a "boy toy". There is more sound in the front seats when you accelerate, but it's akin to what you'd get in any roadster, IMO
.
Maptun sells a prefab system which is very nice, but you won't get straight thru mufflers or a racing cat. Also, IMO, a CAT back upgrade is a waste of time - you need to start at the turbo.
Good luck!
Harry
