UPDATE NUMBER 2 (getting worse... :( ) Posted by dbreid [Email] (#1192) [Profile/Gallery] (more from dbreid) on Tue, 19 Jan 2010 19:27:34 In Reply to: UPDATE (not solved yet), dbreid [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 17 Jan 2010 22:40:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
OK, so after I initially thought things had improved, they have gotten worse again. So I am ruling out the plugs thing.
Now the car nearly always does it, even at idle. It "shudders" when it is idling. Sometimes if I rev it up (at idle, clutch in, not moving) it seems to "fix" it, and goes back to normal idle. I have not been able to determine a pattern of throttle which makes it happen reliably under load.
Here's what I did this evening:
1.) Dry Gas (for good measure)
2.) Checked and cleaned the fuel pump connections. They look brand new, but I put dielectric on them anyway, and cleaned them.
3.) New vaccuum lines (as many as I could find). I did not replace them all, but the ones I didn't were in good shape.
4.) New vaccuum "valve" in the line going to the TB.
5.) New TCS (red/white) valve while I was there, but ignore that, as it has nothing to do with anything. :)
The car runs exactly the same. Still like heck. :(
One thing I did notice, however, is that the Throttle Body makes noise when the car is on (ignition) but not running (engine off, key on). It is a sort of pulsing/groaning noise. One of those noises that is hard to type.
The BPC valve (on the radiator) buzzes, but it always has, and I belive that is normal.
What else to try? I suppose the next major things would be a Throttle Body and a DI cassette, which, of course, are the two most expensive things in the car.
:)
Thoughts?
