For me, the choice would be new boot vs new axle. With the tear at the inner end, you normally don't lose all the grease or pick up a lot of moisture. The joint is most likely fine. I also wouldn't replace a wheel bearing as preventive maintenance if there is no noise. Depending on your year/model, you might have to swap the inner driver on a rebuilt axle.
I usually prefer to remove the outer joint from the axle, clean and repack it, and replace only the outer boot, but I have used the rebuilt axles twice. Once, 97 CSE auto, it was plug and play. Once, 91 CDE manual trans, I ended up having to swap the tripod bearing in order to make it work.
