Clutch woes (long) :( Posted by AdamB [Email] (#3) [Profile/Gallery] (more from AdamB) on Mon, 1 Feb 2010 10:55:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
About 6 months ago the slave cylinder in my '96 9000 went and I had it replaced (genuine Saab) along with the main cylinder (not sure if it's scantech or Saab) and the pressure hose was also changed to a braided steel hose.
A couple of days ago the clutch pedal started to stick to the floor a couple of times (along with the clutch disengagement going), but after being pulled up with my foot it worked fine again. I decided to try to bleed the system with my motive powerbleeder. When bleeding it, only a few tiny bubbles came out with the fluid. But afterwards pedal feel was better and I thought all was well. There was no visible leaks from the slave or dripping under the car. Also no leaks from the master. Reservoir full.
Unfortunately later today the pedal stuck to the floor again and this time wouldn't come up without being lifted, despite pumping it many times. It was also practically impossible to change gears because the clutch wouldn't disengage. If I kicked the pedal to the floor I could force it into gear, but it would be bucking and stalling because it immediately engaged again. Still no leaks, and bleeding it again didn't change anything.
So what do you think? Slavecylinder or master cylinder? Wouldn't it be leaking if the slave went? I'm thinking the internal seals in the master is most likely culprit?
