Your car should have a RED DI cassette. Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Tue, 16 Feb 2010 15:54:29 In Reply to: should it be?, T.S., Mon, 15 Feb 2010 07:22:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Black may work, but it's telling the Trionic unit the wrong things.
From Saab TSB 248-2502:
It is extremely important that the different variants of ignition discharge modules available at Saab workshops are used with the correct engine type. The modules must not be used incorrectly in short-term testing as they could destroy components in both engine control module and ignition discharge module. Faults caused by mixing them do not necessarily appear directly, but may appear a lot later.
Table, color configuration:
Trionic system Color, installed IDM Color, test IDM
Trionic T5 RED BLUE
Trionic T7 BLACK GREEN
(Test IDMs are also noted by having the sides cut out between the bolt holes.)
Red and blue IDMs are identical. Black and green IDMs are identical.
The differences between the red/blue (T5) and black/green (T7) are:
- Ignition coils (different inductance and voltage type)
- Trigger signals (different sensitivity to external interference)
- knock signal (different degrees of signal amplification)
- charge and discharge circuits (different technical concepts)
