Hey guys, I've been posting here as I've diagnosed a failing turbo on my Aero with a td04-15g.
Yesterday, I started to remove the old turbo and found something odd. The blades on the compressor side spin freely, however the exhaust side is completely seized! I've never heard of this happening before. I thought the whole thing would freeze up. Any ideas what could cause this type of failure?
Next, some suggest it's imperative to replace the oil feel line while others don't even mention it. I was hoping to leave it attached to the block since it's in such an awkward position (unlike my 96 which was easy to remove). Should I replace this line/ does my failure indicate a oil starvation problem?
Finally, some also suggest replacing some of the hardware. Self-locking copper nuts for the down pipe, crush washers for the coolant lines, etc. Anyone know a source for this hardware or are these common items I can get locally?
