Bottom line, larger turbo in the manual Aero makes more boost but spools more slowly. Regardless, the automatic keeps the turbo in any version on the boil all the time, which enhances its ability to accelerate smoothly.
Taking nothing away from the manual Aero, but if you haven't driven a well-sorted automatic CSE or Aero, you're in for a surprise comparing the two.
I've long felt the automatic is a better match for the 2.3 turbo even though in some situations the manual can be faster.
