Let's assume nobody runs into you, that you don't hit a tree or drive into a building. The block is a chuck of iron, and that will never go bad. Even so, replacing that isn't expensive - just a little time consuming. My friends always tease me for sinking money into my car when they tell me it'll die soon, but what exactly will die? Engines, as long as they're maintained, will last forever; manual transmissions don't break if you monitor the oil and don't abuse them (and you can't always get another for cheap), any rust on the body can be easily remedied, the interior is simple to maintain and doesn't affect drivability, and suspension is a wear item that will need attention in any car, regardless of year.
So what's that one thing everyone alludes to that kills the car? In any one person's lifetime, the body won't fatigue and just break in half, right?
I don't see why it won't last until no parts are available. It's a big piece of metal - shouldn't it last forever?
