i did this conversion for my wife's car about 8 years ago. i don't remember all the particulars, but, in addition to the items mentioned already note the following:
(1) having access to a donor car is really helpfull. your local recycling yard perhaps?
(2) brake pedal should be changed to the larger auto one, i swapped the entire pedal assembly from a donor vehicle.
(3) brake reservoir feed to clutch master cylinder needs to be capped or you can replace the reservoir with one from a donor vehicle.
(4) connecting the wiring that prevents the car from starting in any gear other than park or neutral and the connections that activate the shift lock solenoid. also note that the reverse lights will now be activated by the shift lever as opposed to the switch in the manual tranny. all the necessary wiring is already in the car, you simply need to make the right connections.
(5) removal of the manual shift lever and shift rod will require removal of the center console and you might want to consider removing the dash board as well. the rubber gromlet in the firewall for the auto's shift cable is smaller than the one for the manual shift rod.
(6) the edu display at the bottom of the instrument panel is slightly different for an auto; miles per gallon is displayed as a number as opposed to the bar graph featured on the manual and the gear position(P,R,N,D4-D1) is displayed there as well. changing it will require removing the instrument cluster.
(7) the auto trans is heavier than the manual and saab changed the spring rate of the front struts to compensate for this. not radically different, but, the car will settle a little lower in the front with the manual's springs.
(8)the bracket that holds the shaft that connects the transmission to the passenger side drive axle is slightly different, but, it must be changed to the one that is marked "A" for auto.
(9)when connecting the shift cable to the shift lever, make sure you're either in park or D1 so you can match the gear position with the lever position.

i'm sure there are things i'm forgetting. if i think of anything else i'll shoot you an email.
