I did the Auto to 5 speed manual swap on my 1992 9000 S. It's not hard but will take some work.
Here are some critical key pointers to doing this!
The most important is to swap out the right drive shaft carrier bearing/lower motor mount bracket. Do not use the one for the auto trans with the manual trans. The auto one has an "A" cast into it and the one for the manual has a "M" cast into it.
Be sure to get a new Genuine Saab Slave cylinder - DO NOT USE THE SCANTECH ONE - I'd only reuse the one from the donor car if it wasn't that old. The same for the Metal and rubber clutch line that goes from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder.
Get the flywheel resurfaced before putting it on your car. Do not get the pressure plate resurfaced - if the one in the donor car is bad get a new one.
You will also need to swap out the whole pedal cluster bracket (the one the clutch, brake and accelerator pedals mount to). The one in the auto transmission car does not have the mounting bracket for the master cylinder on it. The top mounting bolt for this is a real PIA to get to.
Also be sure to get a brand new rubber shift rod coupling bushing. Don't put a old used one in.
If you want more info e-mail me.
