Finally repaired frozen ignition key problem

Yesterday I decided to attempt to repair the ignition key on our son's 1994 9000 (normally aspirated). The key would intermittently not return to the lock position and would lock up in the second key position. I removed the two torx screws on the front side of the auto trans shifter and pulled up on the shifter handle to remove it. I also removed the small torx screw on the front side of the trim panel for the shifter mechanism. I then sprayed some Kano lubricant down the inside of the shifter stem (on which the shifter handle mounts to) and to the mechanism beneath the stem (as good as I could get to it, since I could not fully remove the black plastic trim panel).
Anyway, this appeared to fix the problem of the sticking key, in that I can now remove the key when the trans shifter is in the park position. So, fortunatly I did not have to delve further into the actual key cylinder or the ignition swich mechanism. The problem was essentially with the auto trans shifter mechanism.
Hope that this post can help others out with sticking keys going forward.
