It looks as though there was an aftermarket temp sensor installed when the previous owner put on a new radiator. The main upper rad hose (the big one) that goes to the engine has a sensor and wire running from the middle of the hose. I had never seen this before and my Dad and I agreed it was not stock. Could the aftermarket setup be giving my ECU bad readings?
Would that mean the sensor is telling the computer that it is warmer than it really is?
My temp gauge also never gets to 9 oclock. Most times, unless it is warm and the car is ideling for a long time, the temp gauge only reads between 7 and 8 oclock. If its cold out and Im not going up a lot of hills it barely sits above the blue area... Could I have the wrong thermostat maybe?
My last 9000 never had a problem starting in cold weather either. Im also from VT ;) Only when the fuel pump was going and when the starter needed a rebuild did it fail to start. That was a 95 CSE.
