With it sitting down on the mounts in the car, there's something there for weight to push against when cracking the tranny-to-block bolts, and the torque converter bolts.
If it's hanging free in the air you could have some fun trying to crack things loose.
Just get them turning with it all in the car, then you can take them out easier when it's hanging on the hoist.
You can pull the torque converter to flex plate bolts ahead of time though.
I'm presuming you have an automatic; maybe not.
If automatic, also you'll have a torque converter full of fluid to control when you separate things. Might be well to have motor set down on a pallet say, and something to support the tranny separately, such as a sling on another lift or come along from above. Or a friend or two.
Also if automatic, there's a little cover plate over flex plate that you have to remove before getting to torque converter bolts. You have to remove one big bolt, thru oil pan into tranny, that passes thru it, as well as an M6 bolt at other end, then I had to set a big screwdriver against the spacer that's welded to that plate where the big bolt goes thru, and hit it with a hammer to get it to slide out from between engine and tranny to drop out of the way.
