I tried to change the belt and pulleys on my 97 CSE yesterday and found that the belt tensioner was frozen up. So I ordered a new replacement on line and am now wondering about how to install.
Maybe I'm overanalyzing this, but are there any special things to consider to install these? Or is it just a bolt it on and go. I'm asking because I've read that removing the belt without compressing the tensioner and putting the retaining tool in place makes it overextend and ruins the part. Do I need to compress the new tensioner and install the tool before I install? And if so, how do you do it?
