Oil change after coolant overheat, answer

A knowledgable friend provided me with an answer that makes sense. With regard to the need to change engine oil after an overheat, he said......
"You don't need to change the oil just because of the overheating. The (synthetic) oil probably never got hot enough to break down. The oil is not as sensitive to spikes in temperature because of a broken fan because it contacts the engine block in many cooler places but the coolant contacts the block and heads in the hottest places. The oil temp would go up when the engine is run very hard over a prolonged period and the average temperature of the whole block and head go up. What you probably experienced was localized overheating near the coolant jackets. When I took my cars to the racetrack, the oil temp would go up but the coolant temp would not.
Of course he assumes that no coolant got into the oil via a stressed head gasket. My oil "looks" clean and idles-drives fine so likely my HG is OK.
