I am a bit confused. Are you saying that when you turn the key and get nothing that the battery is dead, or that the battery is actually good but your not getting power to start the car?
If the battery is dead or low, then I agree that you need to check battery cables, and negative ground connection. Could also be a bad alternator.
If the battery is actually good, then I would suspect a bad starter motor, or ignition switch. Is this an automatic or manual?
