Sounds like a leaking clutch master cylinder or hose Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Thu, 15 Nov 2012 10:37:28 In Reply to: Re: How are the other fluid levels, specifically coolant?, SaabER, Thu, 15 Nov 2012 10:19:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
based on the location of the leak. You may want to fill up the brake reservoir to "MAX" and see if it drops. The reason for this is that the takeoff for the clutch hydraulics are not at the bottom of the reservoir - this way you may not be able to move the car (clutch not working), but you will be able to stop it if you do have a leak.
If you are still not sure, how about tasting the fluid, as in "stick your finger in the puddle and touch it to your tongue". If it is sweet tasting, then it's antifreeze. This is not going to poison you or kill you (well, it hasn't killed me yet) in this quantity. You may want to have a beverage of choice standing by for afterwards.
