I fool with Motos.. for decades.
Coming up to a century of the widely known/accepted reality that aftermarket bits are inferior.
Recently ran across a retired Briggs%Stratton engineer. He stated that their Oem pistons (for an Iron Age garden equip engine no less) were mfg'd to surprisingly demanding/precise specs.. and that many were rejected immediately after delivery, this from long standing suppliers.
He suggested that aftermarket copies were nothing less than laughable.
Also known that the Very Best/respected brand names aftermarket Moto pistons are usually 50/60% of the oem bits in precision/quality.
Small example: Wossner, one of the better makers, (often does Saab replacement pistons).. are still Far short of the simple stupid OEM pieces.
Hell, they can't even get the damn weights correct.
German engineering.. My Butt.
Gawd knows where 'Fabrique en Chine' junk falls in 'lack of quality' ratings ?
Not wanting to knowingly/willingly find out.. thanx.
Does any of this matter in a 16/17 yr old car? likely not :-)
But then there is also Nothing wrong with the quality of ones' Money.
Fair exchange would be wonderous.
