I want to replace all my pwr steering hoses, they all seem to be covered/caked with oil. Probably poor quality hose like the clutch lines. The best DIY plan I see would be to buy so many feed of high quality hose in both the pressure hose diameter and the non-pressure hose diameter. I'd like to buy sufficient lengths of hose and some good quality hose clamps. Then with the car exposed on the lift I could remove all hoses, cut away the crimped fittings and put in the new hoses with double hose clamps at each pressure connection. I did this similarly once with a hose kit I got from TownsendImports for removal of the trannyfluid-thermostat bypass in my 88 9000. I suspect a lot of 9000's need these pwr strg hoses replaced. This may be the easiest cheapest way to replace....without vehicle downtime.
Sound OK?
Are fittings at crimps long enough for double hose clamps?
Anyone have an idea of inner diameters?
Total lineal feet of each hose size?
Recommended hyd hose shop in Boston area?
Thanks in advance.....
