In my case I suspect the culprit is the CD/Equalizer unit. These Clarion setups use the separate amplifier (under the passenger seat) only for the rear speakers, but my practically-inaudible issue is for all four speakers.
The CD/EQ still has a CD stuck in it, and doesn't respond to the eject button. Swapping in another head unit didn't change the problem.
Somewhere in the archives I found a posting that says the (I think) capacitors leak on these and can be replaced.
Of course it could be just about anything at this point.
Mine's a 94 Aero, incidentally. How about yours?
