Kroil is great stuff! Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Wed, 29 May 2013 15:57:44 In Reply to: Re: Rust - arrgh!, TML [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 28 May 2013 09:40:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The bolts actually came apart OK after soaking in Kroil for a couple of days, though I will replace with stainless assuming I can find appropriate size hardware.
Radiator and intercooler are out, oil cooler off to the side, so now the old condenser and other old parts can come out and the new A/C parts installed. I'll have to see about finding new seals for the trans cooler lines. (Last time I needed 'em I got them from a dealer where they were ridiculously expensive.)
I'm also replacing the pulleys and serpentine belt while in there. I did find another possible issue - when rotating the alternator by hand it's noisy. Not bearing noise, sounds like something is rubbing inside as it rotates. The alternator has been working OK as far as output and no unusual sounds with the engine running, but still it seems cause for concern.
It's always fun taking old cars apart...
