I am pretty murky on the V6 in the 9000, but my understanding (going on for many years now) from what I've read on this board is that it is fairly different, and even less reliable, than the V6 in the NG900.
I had a 9-5 with that version of the V6, and found it to be fine. Of the three I believe the 9-5 version was the only one that approached decent reliability (I may be wrong). Again, this V6 had almost nothing exchangeable with the 9000 version.
One thing is for sure: there weren't many 9000s built with this motor, which was only available for a couple of model years before being dropped, and there are almost none left on the road today. This means finding parts, new or used, is going to be a real bear; and finding technical resources online when you need to repair something will be even harder.
I don't think I can ever remember anyone saying they liked that engine on this forum, though the owners on the 9000 board are probably not the audience for that product. But the traditional advice has been to stay away from V6 9000s, and for reasons of scarcity, doubly so today.
