Replaced temp sensor & thermostat, P0125 persists Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Fri, 30 Aug 2013 10:09:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Still getting the P0125 "insufficient coolant temperature" error on my 1997 CSE. (Also P0135 front O2 sensor heater, which may or may not be related.)
When the code first came up the car had a recent "Genuine Saab" 89 degree thermostat installed. According to my OBD-II laptop software the actual coolant temperature was 171 degrees F. (about 77 C.) after taking the car on a drive for several miles.
Today I replaced the thermostat with a new Wahler 88 degree unit. Now the coolant temperature is coming up as 162 degrees (72 C.) after driving for a while, noticably cooler - NOT what I was looking for!
The temperature sensor up on the intake manifold has also been replaced. Grounds on the ECU and engine-to-chassis have also been cleaned up.
Anyone know what the required coolant temperature actually is before the computer stops complaining? Any suggested next steps? It's hard to believe that I would have gotten 2 bad thermostats in a row. Maybe the new temperature sensor is bad? (Anyone have a temperature vs. resistance curve for that unit?)
