As Jersey notes, bleeding the caliper won't work, and I would be uncomfortable with the odds of air getting into the brake line no matter how careful you are to tighten the hose before flow direction reverses.
I'd be truly shocked if your substitute caliper is different in any way from what's in your car now, but better safe than sorry I'd say.
Probably best to just go the replacement route.
