Group 41 at Wal-Mart, $95 but only 2-year warranty Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Fri, 7 Mar 2014 06:46:48 In Reply to: Batteries for 9000s - new size numbers, Bill Homer [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 6 Mar 2014 19:00:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've used Wal-Mart batteries for years in my cars and overall gotten good service out of them, but yesterday the battery in my 9000 died completely at what I would consider a premature age, almost exactly 3 years to the day. This battery was dead as the proverbial doornail, turned the key and NOTHING happened. It couldn't even light up a test light. (Tried to charge the battery overnight with a 4 amp charger but all cells still were weak.)
I got a surprise when I took it back, no pro-rated warranty, just exchange during the initial 2 years which was well past. (It used to be a free exchange period plus 48 or 60 months pro-rated.) The new battery was about $95. (They have a five-year warranty line for about $10 more but nothing to fit a 9000.) Since I needed a battery right away and I was there I went ahead and just bought it, but may do some more shopping around next time.
