Newbie front brake caliper question Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Wed, 9 Apr 2014 15:47:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
'96 9000 with stock ATE calipers.
I've just replaced the lower engine mounts and thought while the wheel is off I'd measure the rotor with a brake rotor micrometer. The problem is the inner face of the rotor is not accessible. Where it isn't blocked by the caliper it is blocked by a dust cover (or maybe the "dust cover" is called a splash guard or backing plate). I need to move the caliper out of the way. Not necessarily remove it, just swing it out of the way.
What is an easy way to move the caliper far enough to measure the rotor's thickness?
