Hi Marek,
I live in Brooklyn and work in Manhattan. I have an ISAT but I keep it in Connecticut and it's currently on loan, so won't be available for a couple months most likely.
However, you can start by answering one question: is the car in limp mode as soon as you start the car? Or does it start and idle fine and then the problems start once in motion? If the latter, your most likely culprit is going to be the safety valve on the false firewall. You may be able to test that theory by swapping it for the valve located on the driver's side fender, near the battery. Assuming this one's not also bad, you may get the car going again and this will confirm the safety valve diagnosis. Handy before you spend the money at eEuro or elsewhere.
If it's the safety valve you will not need an ISAT to complete that repair -- just replace it and you're on your way.
If the car's in limp home mode right from startup then you really should get an ISAT or Tech II on that car to get the proper diagnosis, as you don't want to start throwing parts at the problem.
Replacing TB or pedal pot (or ECU) absolutely requires an ISAT calibration so that all the bits know their proper range of motion relative to one another. Classic lore has it that failure to do so can result in one or more of the components burning out; but more likely you will simply continue to see limp home issues.
Feel free to click on my name and send me an email with your contact info and we can talk through your scenario, and maybe I can even meet you if it's not too far.
