What year is your car? And what state do you live in?
There are a few variables here but if you or your shop are a bit creative, you might be able to install a "universal" converter which would cost only $100 to $200.
I ask which state because I know CA is very strict on such things and you might fail inspection with a universal converter. Other states are less picky.
I've heard it said by some people that the universal ones don't last, but I've had one on my car for 12 years and as far as I (and the car's computer) know it's still working just fine, and have always passed inspection with it.
Re the two you mentioned, 20 years ago when I worked as a mechanic Bosal was a well-respected name, but I think their quality may have gone downhill since. Eastern I've never heard of.
