Ray's suggestion is essentially the only way to go. If you are not successful at first, you can refine the design using custom jigs, different clamps, etc. The shallowest depth c-clamp that will fit is best for least bending, and obviously as heavy duty as possible. If you can get a piece that has the contour of the shaft on one side and a flat side on the other, then drill a hole for the pin, that will give a lot of stability.
