There's also a chance that what you're seeing is power steering fluid, leaking from either of the two hoses at the pump or from the pump's seal itself.
If it's leaking oil at a seam of the timing cover the most likely is at the top where it butts up to the head and seals in to the block. Would be obvious if so. Maybe cleaning up the area thoroughly and daubing it with silicone would stem it for a while.
I've read a tip, clean the area, spray it with aerosol foot powder, which is just cornstarch. Then after running the car a little the track of the leaking oil will be clear. No-brand spray foot powder is sold cheap at Family Dollar.
Could it be the oil is leaking out at the oil filter itself? Sometimes when they're changed the old gasket sticks to the block and gets new filter screwed down against it. It is very dangerous if so, because the gasket can seep for a while, then suddenly squirm out sideways and gush out all your engine oil.
