ECU rarely fail, but testing it with a know good one lets you check it off the list.
Since it restarts with the engine hot it's probably not the CPS, but since that is an electrical part maybe it has a flakey connection.
Otherwise, I'd be looking at other electrical issues. I'm thinking you have bad ground somewhere. The ignition switch comes to mind. People here have noted all kinds of weird things happening when an ignition switch heads south.
