I think you may be wrong about he NGK boxed DIC's... they should be the SEM. as SEM sold rights to NGK to sell in North America. if there is the grid markings cast into it, that is a good sign. The areas ground away also suggest that NGK was just grinding off the SEM markings so that they can sell it in an NGK box. This is pretty standard practice for OEM supplier parts that are not boxed as SAAB (or audi or bmw or whatever)
but peace of mind is another story.
you cant believe everything on the internet, including my post :)
but heres a start...or many other threads on this topic in other model forums and on other saab forums.... simple NGK DIC search will bring them up

good luck! I dont think the NGK DIC is junk. but I am very open to being wrong... Especially since you say there is no SEM sticker on it... Mine did have the sticker, and so does the one in the video link above.
been running one in my 9000 since February of 2019....
Hopefully there hasnt been a change? I think maybe NGK has had time to paint over the SEM sticker and grind off the markings , and the unit i bought and that the video guy has was an earlier situation where NGK started selling them before that workflow was introduced?
would be good to know...
