In most application on a Saab, Bosch is the oem relay brand. Hella is another brand used.
I don't think I have ever replaced the main relay so I can't say what's going. Was it the ABS main relay or fuel injection main relay? If ABS main relay, I don't think that would interfere with running of the engine.
A basic On/Off relay is pretty sturdy and I would think that if it goes bad within a week, it would burn a fuse rather than burn the relays contacts.
What TCS codes did you retrieve? As you might know, the TCS system on these 9000 are quite finicky with plenty of problems here and there. At least the 95 9000 had the latest and greatest parts installed but even those are now quite old.
