My 97 Autobox Idles at a rock solid 900.. religiously.. for 20 years.
AC ignition shifts(loads) it a few rpms but barely. I bi-annually pull one end of the AIC hose (easiest, top one on the throttle body ) and give a few heavy spritzes of WD40.
As for brake pads I've experimented with Too Many.. suggested ones... Metal master (Heavy rotor wear/mediocre performance) Powerstop 'Perf' pads (Barely stopped the car!) Pagids (Don't waste your $ :-) Bosch (even worse)
Tried EBC Reds as EBC greens proved outstanding on Wifes' Acura. (that cars' brake system is far better than my Saabs' though) so I went for the more aggressive Reds to compensate.
Best brakes yet in My Saab.
Easy on the rotors as well.. they have a mirror finish even a year on.
Still not as good as the Acura but decidedly improved.
