Ours is not a harmonic dampener like you would find on a small block Chevy. It is designed to isolate the crank shaft from the accessories. If solid there will be some increase in wear on bearings and accessories.
Other car enthusiasts have the option of buying a solid pulleys in an underdrive configuration. The results are typically 2-10HP increasing as rpm's do. Basically causing the accessories to turn slower. However, the general concensus is that they do increse wear on bearings in the accessory and crank shaft bearings with the typical individuals claiming it ruined their engine. I have seen one of the Unothrodox's pulleys wear out a seal and causing the engine to leak oil but nothing devastating. My opinion is the solid pulleys are fine for limited mileage cars who can stand a little more vibration but should not be used in everyday street cars.
