one day it's low boost, and now we have too much boost.
If you have too much boost, count yourself lucky....
But seriously, check your hoses first, has the middle hose or top hose from your BPC valve fallen off (check both ends of each hose).
If the middle hose of the BPC solenoid is attached and secured, then take the middle hose off (yeah, I know, I told you to check if it's detached now I'm asking you to remove it :-) the BPC solenoid, blow into the hose.
If you can blow through, i.e. no resistance, then your wastegate bellow/diaphram may have a leak and the wastegate is deemed non-functional. I have never seen a post that this has ever happened to anyone here but just check.
My bet, however is on the BPC solenoid. Take the solenoid out, (remove the hoses and the two screws), blow into the terminal marked "C" (the top one), air should come out of "W" and the bottom outlet. Continue blowing into "C" and block off the bottom outlet with a finger and see if anything is coming out of "W". If little or no air comes out of "W", then you have a blocked or stuck BPC solenoid.
Lightly bang the bottom of the solnoid against a table, try the blow through test again. Again no air ? Then that probably is your cause for overboost.
The BPC solenoid should rattle if you shake it. There is a little metallic disk that should be free to move inside a small gap between two electromagnets, hence the little rattling noise when you shake the valve.
Borrow a known working BPC solenoid from a friend, indy mechanic, or.....
and see if that is the problem.
Some here has luck by squirting Liquid Wrench into the valve and has revived the solenoid. I, however, have limited luck for two of my valves.
Good luck and let us know.
