If I've learned anything about owning a Saab, it's not to jump to conclusions. Barr's Leaks Treatment turns the fluid a rust color- so you may be in luck. The car may have been conditioned with Barr's. If you ever need to bypass heater core- devise a u-shaped copper pipe and disconnect hoseclamps behind the firewall - no cutting required- this will avoid a vapor-lock situation- just use two hose clamps. I have not needed this repair as-of-yet. I think heatercore replacements are easier on '92 or '93 on up(some redesign in this area).
