Adaptation occurs between 2750 and 3250 rpm. You want to make sure as much time as possible elapses through this rpm band, so I usually start at 2000 rpm or so in 5th, preferrably uphill and (if you have speed-tolerant passengers) with a couple of people on board.
The key is to make the car work as hard as possible through the 2750-3250 interval.
Do this a couple of times or more and you should see a definite increase in boost.
If not, well, then you have other issues. If that's the case, get back to "us" and we'll try and help you out...
