Any ideas on cleaning a/c ducts? possible musty mold

I just bought a '96 cst 9000 with 20,000 miles! for my wife- I remain loyal to the '89 cdt with 200,170 miles. The car is practically mint condition and should last forever based on the longevity of mine and being in control of fluid changes from now on, however, I detect a musty odor in it- but not offensive- she also has developed a dry cough as of late. I think there could be mold or fungus living in the heater core area or ducts. Have any of you dealt with this problem? I know there is a observation window into the heater core area on my '89 on the drivers side of the blower motor box. I also recall seeing some aerosol product in a car magazine that can be sprayed into such an area. I would like to know about any ideas you people may have used to clean out your ducts. This is a Florida car- perhaps the ole Wisconsin Winters were good for something in the past- killing molds and fungus that could develop in there?
Please advise or explain if you have solved such a problem.
