This is the third '86 9000 turbo I have owned and the same simptoms have followed me.When I first start the car in the mornings or after more than four hours (temp. gauge all the way down),it will fire instantly and rpms will jump to 1800rpm.Then they drop slowly until the car stalls.Upon restart it will fire immediately and do the same thing.I have to keep the rpms close to 1800 for some until the temp. gauge nears a third of the way up.Even at this stage, when I drive off the car wants to stall and I have to feather the gas pedal. It's only when I am fully warmed up that it will idle smoothly at 850 rpm and drive off without stalling. This motor I rebuilt 1600 miles ago and other than LH Control unit and MAF sensor, everything else is new, even the vacuum lines behind dash.I hate being the fool who sits in his Saab for ten minutes holding the gas pedal while all the other guys with their Toyotas and Hondas leave me behind.
