transmission chirp Posted by Nick [Email] (#227) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nick) on Wed, 8 Nov 2000 16:17:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
For the last couple of days I've noticed a sound that occurs every time the car ('88 auto) changes from 2nd to 3rd. It's difficult to describe but is a cross between a squeak and a chirrup. It's not very loud and only lasts a heartbeat as the trans shifts but it's definitely there and wasn't before. The shifting action of the transmission is smooth and occurs at the correct speeds. The noise sounds to be coming from an area below and slightly to the rear of the gear stick but its funny how noises travel in cars. Any ideas? Am I being paranoid about the transmission dying?
Any thoughts gladly received,
Nick.
P.S. The trans fluid level and condition check out OK.
